William C. Sutherland,
OD
Dr. Sutherland earned his undergraduate
degree studying Chemistry and Biology at Emery and Henry College in
Virginia. He then graduated from the Southern College of
Optometry in Memphis, TN, and served his internship at the U. S. Air Force
Holliman New Mexico. Further studies have included 100 hour C.D.
through the Pennsylvania College of Optometry on the use of Therapeutic
Drugs in the treatment of eye disease. Dr. Sutherland has served as
staff physician for the Ophthalmic Consultants of Tidewater in Chesapeake
Virginia, specializing in General Optometry and Contact Lenses. In
private practice, he heads Eyewear Plus Optometric Center where he
specializes in anterior segment eye disease. Dr. Sutherland is a
current member of the American Optometric Association, Virginia Optometric
Association (past president), Tidewater Optometric Association (past
president), and the Virginia Academy of Optometry. He also is a past
president of the Exchange Club of Williamsburg.
Anthony J. DeRosa, MD
Director of Refractive Surgery Services
Refractive Surgery, Corneal Disease, and Uveitis
Dr. DeRosa received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth
College and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in
New Hampshire. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at
UCLA and received his ophthalmology training at the University of
South Florida in Tampa. He then completed a fellowship in Cornea/External Disease, Uveitis, and Refractive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco/Frances
I. Proctor Foundation. During his training, Dr. DeRosa gained extensive experience in
refractive surgery working beside some of the nation's premiere refractive surgeons.
He is one of less than 25 U.S. surgeons certified in the implantable contact lens
procedure. Dr. DeRosa's extensive experience includes incisional and laser surgery
for correcting refractive errors, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and management of complicated ocular anterior segment conditions and inflammations.
He has researched corneal topography, bacterial conjunctivitis and antibiotic
resistance, and has presented papers at a variety of national meetings.
